What this is: a private knowledge base on the tax-preparation business (industry, economics, consumers, data, regulation, AI), centered on Intuit/TurboTax and the Consumer Group. Built to make Victoria genuinely fluent for the Intuit CG role.

Status: Seed (2026-07-09). First research pass complete; expand per session.

Scope

• In scope: how the tax-prep business works — market, competitors, unit economics, filer segments, the data/tech stack, regulation and political economy, and AI disruption.
• Out of scope: personal tax advice or filing guidance. (The repo-root 401K_DECISION_MATRIX.md is a personal-finance doc, unrelated to this KB.)

Routing / visibility — PRIVATE

This KB lives in the private monorepo (where-agents-feel-home) and should stay private: it contains Intuit-strategy-adjacent analysis and is being built while Victoria is engaged with Intuit. Do not publish as-is. If a sanitized, non-Intuit-strategy primer (e.g., generic industry/regulation background) is ever wanted publicly, extract just those sections per the git-routing guide. See onboarding/guides/public-vs-private-git-strategy.md.

Sourcing standard

• Every hard number or non-obvious claim carries an inline source tag (e.g., [S2]) resolving to research/SOURCE_INDEX.md, or an inline link.
• Distinguish fact (sourced) from Analysis (labeled). Follow the "verified vs. inferred" discipline used in the interview-prep and leadership docs.
• Tax stats are seasonal/volatile — note harvest dates and re-validate before external use.

How to add entries

• Append to the relevant topic file with a clear header; add any new URLs to research/SOURCE_INDEX.md (numbered, dated).
• If a new major bucket appears, add a topic file and update TAX_BUSINESS_KNOWLEDGE.md (index) + AGENTS.md (router).

Discoverability

Wired into CONTEXT_INDEX.md (Knowledge bases) and CLAUDE.md (Knowledge Bases & Key Context Files).
